Golden Visa · transitional rules

Golden Visa: existing applications, renewals and alternatives

New investment Golden Visa applications are no longer accepted from 3 April 2025. Buying a property does not itself grant residence.

We distinguish cases covered by transitional rules from new applications under other residence routes. Approval is not guaranteed.

Application submitted before closure

Investor or family visa or residence applications submitted before 3 April 2025 may be processed under the rules in force on their submission date. We review submission evidence and case status; an earlier purchase or appointment is not a submitted application.

Valid permit and renewal

Visas and authorisations valid on 3 April 2025 remain valid for their granted term. Renewals follow the rules in force when the initial authorisation was granted, subject to requirements and deadlines. Each family member's position must be reviewed individually.

New residence: current alternatives

Without an earlier application covered by transitional rules, we assess non-lucrative residence, international remote work or highly qualified professional mobility according to your profile. These are not automatic replacements and a property purchase alone is insufficient.
